Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23 우리는 십자가에 못 박힌 그리스도를 전하니 유대인에게는 거리끼는 것이요 이방인에게는 미련한 것이로되 but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24 오직 부르심을 받은 자들에게는 유대인이나 헬라인이나 그리스도는 하나님의 능력이요 하나님의 지혜니라 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 하나님의 어리석음이 사람보다 지혜롭고 하나님의 약하심이 사람보다 강하니라 For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength.

You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.' 25그러므로 여러분이여 안심하라 나는 내게 말씀하신 그대로 되리라고 하나님을 믿노라 So keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me.

Jacob, however, took fresh-cut branches from poplar, almond and plane trees and made white stripes on them by peeling the bark and exposing the white inner wood of the branches. Then he placed the peeled branches in all the watering troughs, so that they would be directly in front of the flocks when they came to drink. When the flocks were in heat and came to drink, 39가지 앞에서 새끼를 배므로 얼룩얼룩한 것과 점이 있고 아롱진 것을 낳은지라 they mated in front of the branches. And they bore young that were streaked or speckled or spotted. Jacob set apart the young of the flock by themselves, but made the rest face the streaked and dark-colored animals that belonged to Laban. Thus he made separate flocks for himself and did not put them with Laban's animals. Whenever the stronger females were in heat, Jacob would place the branches in the troughs in front of the animals so they would mate near the branches, 42약한 양이면 그 가지를 두지 아니하니 그렇게 함으로 약한 것은 라반의 것이 되고 튼튼한 것은 야곱의 것이 된지라 but if the animals were weak, he would not place them there. So the weak animals went to Laban and the strong ones to Jacob. In this way the man grew exceedingly prosperous and came to own large flocks, and maidservants and menservants, and camels and donkeys.
